FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Experience Information

What makes the Chef's Table experience unique?
This is more than just a cooking class; it’s an exclusive evening in a 15th-century palazzo. You’ll enjoy a professional wine tasting with panoramic views of Bologna's skyline before stepping into the kitchen with Chef Darren, who brings his experience from Michelin-starred restaurants to your workstation.
Where do we meet and where is the location?
We meet at 5:30 PM in Piazza Santo Stefano. From there, we proceed to the private palazzo nearby. The exact location of the palazzo is shared only with confirmed guests.
Is the cooking part hands-on?
Yes, 100%. You will learn to craft pasta the traditional way: no machines, just a rolling pin. Chef Darren will guide you through the techniques used in Bologna’s top restaurants to create a perfect seasonal pasta dish.
What language is the experience conducted in?
The entire experience, from the wine tasting to the kitchen instruction, is conducted in English.

Food and Drink

What is included in the menu?
The evening starts with an aperitivo featuring a guided tasting of three local wines paired with artisanal salumi. You will then cook and eat a seasonal pasta dish (using the pasta you made), followed by a traditional Bolognese dessert (such as Fiordilatte or Zuppa Inglese) from a historic local pastry shop.
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
We can easily adapt the menu for vegetarians, dairy-free guests, and pregnant women. Please mention your needs in the "Notes" section when booking. Note: we cannot accommodate gluten-free diets or celiacs, as the experience centers on traditional flour-based pasta making in a shared kitchen environment.
Is the wine tasting just a drink or a guided experience?
It is a fully guided sensory journey. While overlooking the city from our panoramic terrace, you will be introduced to three premium local wines. We’ll discuss the history of our vines, the characteristics of the terroir, and the specific pairings with local artisanal cold cuts.

Logistics & Booking

How long is the experience?
The experience lasts approximately 3 hours, perfectly balanced between the aperitivo on the terrace, the hands-on cooking, and the final dinner.
What is the maximum group size?
To ensure an exclusive, intimate experience and plenty of personal time with the Chef, we limit the capacity to only 8 people.
Can I book this as a private event?
Yes! This is a fantastic option for a private celebration. If you’d like the palazzo and Chef Darren all to yourself, please contact us for a private quote.

Gear & Expectations

Do I need to bring anything?
No, we provide everything: aprons, high-quality ingredients, and professional workstations. Just bring your curiosity and a camera for the view!
Is there a dress code?
Since you are a guest in a 15th-century palazzo, we recommend smart-casual attire. It’s an elegant setting, but you’ll also be working in the kitchen, so choose something comfortable yet stylish.
Why choose the Chef's Table?
Because it’s the perfect mix of an intimate dinner party and a professional workshop. You’ll learn pro-level techniques directly from a Michelin-trained chef, enjoy incredible food and wine, and share the evening with a small group of fellow food lovers in a setting you simply couldn’t access otherwise.
